Isotopic Mass Analyzer
Attom ES
Type: HR-ICP MS
Manufacturer: Nu Instruments
The Attom ES from Nu Instruments is a double focussing (sector field/high-resolution) inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometer (ICP-MS) that is designed to be the ultimate tool for rapid and precise quantitative analysis of trace elements (lithium to uranium) in solid and liquid matrices (from ppb to wt%). In specific cases, this instrument can also be used to determine isotope ratios (e.g., lithium or osmium). The unique fast scanning coupled with a wide dynamic range detector system make the Attom ES a powerful analytical tool. Furthermore, the flexible low- to high-resolution slit system allows to optimize sensitivity and mass resolution for unambiguous determinations in complex matrices.
Plasma 3
Type: Multi-collector ICP-MS
Manufacturer: Nu Instruments
The Plasma 3 is a third generation Multi Collector ICP Mass Spectrometer (MC-ICP-MS) from Nu Instruments, designed to provide the best possible precision and accuracy for simultaneous isotopic ion detection. The instrument operates a unique, variable dispersion Zoom lens enabling the simultaneous measurement of the isotopes of elements ranging from lithium to the actinide series, relying on its static collector array of 16 Faraday detectors.
Triple-Quadrupole Inductively Coupled Plasma Mass Spectrometer (ICP-QQQ), coupled with excimer-based nanosecond laser ablation (LA) and high-preformance liquid chromatography (HPLC).
Type: LA-ICP-QQQ and HPLC-ICP-QQQ
Manufacturers: Agilent (HPLC and ICP-QQQ) and Teledyne (Laser ablation)
The Teledyne Iridia laser ablation system enables the next generation of high-speed imaging applications. The Iridia was designed to be as efficient and flexible as possible for users wanting to run high-repetition rate analysis for both geo- and bio-imaging applications. This laser ablation system can be coupled to the Agilent 8900 Triple Quadrupole inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometer (ICP-QQQ) or any of the other instruments in the Plasma Lab.
The Agilent 8900 introduces analytical capabilities previously not possible for ICP-MS, especially the low-level determination of elements considered analytically challenging (e.g., selenium and arsenic). By seperation of direct isobaric overlaps, and fast, trace level analysis, the application of ICP-MS has extended into new fields of analysis. The Agilent 8900 can also be coupled to an Agilent 1260 Infinity II high-preformance liquid chromatography system, a robust instrument that offers the widest choice of modules for analytical HPLC and entry-level UHPLC.
